From smart tech to agri-innovation, a new cohort of young entrepreneurs are stepping up for 2026 GI Challenge.

Launching on Wednesday night at Platinum Partner Youi’s Sunshine Coast HQ, the 2026 GI Challenge will power participants to turn their ideas into reality.

GI Board Director and inaugural GI Challenge winner Harry Thompson said this year’s group is shaping up to be one of the most exciting yet.

“Each year I am blown away by the creativity of the Coast and Noosa’s young entrepreneurs and the determination they bring to the GI Challenge,” Mr Thompson said.

“The 2026 cohort of entrepreneurs have some of the most innovative solutions to problems people and businesses face and I am excited to see where their ventures will end up.”

Now in its 12th year, Generation Innovation continues to empower people aged 15 to 21 to create businesses that not only spark innovation but also tackle youth unemployment and inspire community change.

Youi are partnering with the GI Challenge for their 6th year.

“We see the talent and dedication in these young people possess. It is our duty support and guide them to turn confidence into capability, passion into potential. The GI Challenge is a powerful pathway for that journey, and we are proud to have supported our young entrepreneurs for the past twelve years.” Dave Annesley, Head of Marketing and Communications said.

The program will begin with Originate Day in two weeks, where participants connected with their mentors for the first time. Each entrepreneur is paired with a local business mentor, offering one-on-one guidance from day one.

GI Board Chair Shane Cunningham said the challenge is designed to nurture both the practical and creative sides of entrepreneurship.

“The GI Challenge is about giving young people the tools, knowledge and confidence to act on their ideas.”

“With their mentors beside them, they can explore what’s possible and take action to make it happen.”

Supported by their mentors, the young entrepreneurs will also take part in boot camps and a pitch event, culminating in Pitch Night in September, where one entrepreneur will win a $10,000 prize package to help develop their business.
